Dunapack Packaging’s Romanian unit Dunapack Rambox has signed an agreement to buy an 11.5ha area in the Bucharest to construct a greenfield corrugated packaging plant.
In addition to the construction of the new facility, the company will also conduct a technical upgrade its existing Sfântu Gheorghe plant in Romania.
Dunapack Packaging division MD Alexander Enzenberg said: “The new greenfield plant near Bucharest is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen Rambox’s strategic market position in Romania.
“With two plants in the region, we are able to supply our customers with high-quality packaging in combination with a unique logistics setup.”
The new plant will be situated on a 22,000m² area in Bolintin, approximately 20km west of Bucharest.
The facility will be equipped with a 2.8m-wide Fosber high-speed corrugator and multiple multi-colour printing and die-cutting machines to deliver shelf-ready packaging solutions to its customers.
Under the upgrade programme of Sfântu Gheorghe facility, Dunapack will overhaul the corrugator machine with the latest technology besides the installation of a high-quality printing, a flatbed-die-cutting- and a new folder-glueing machine.
After the new plant commences production, the combined annual output is expected to reach 300 million square metres, of which the Bolintin facility will produce 180 million square metres.
A part of Austrian based Prinzhorn Group, Dunapack Packaging operates 19 corrugated plants located across ten countries.
It employs nearly 6,300 people and reported to have an annual turnover of €1.23bn.
