Enhanced value from Domino Printing Sciences’ updated large character coding solution

Domino Printing Sciences is enhancing the specification of their C6000 large character inkjet printer. C6000 enables improved efficiency and reduced downtime through redesigned electronics, user-friendly interface and eco-friendly ink making C6000 a must-have solution for outer case coding applications.

Domino’s C6000 large-character coder can print up to 70mm of high-resolution codes. Capable of printing directly onto porous and semi-porous substrates including outer cases, trays, and sacks, the C6000 is ideal for product identification, traceability, and personalisation coding tasks.

Focused on improved production efficiency and reduced downtime, the C6000 includes as standard a redesigned Piezo printhead enabling ECO mode operation for reduced ink consumption. Up to 20% reduction in ink consumption can be achieved using the ECO mode. The new multi-head base and innovative large-capacity ink system allow continuous coding even during consumable change, reducing production downtime.

Code print quality and drop placement accuracy are optimised via Domino’s latest Piezoelectric printhead technology with robust design further improving printer reliability for challenging production environments. Code consistency is enhanced with the inclusion of a product guide plate and a flexible floating printhead which improves line set up for correct throw distance.

The C6000 solution provides the option of incorporating a PAC box barcode validation kit allowing for automated message selection and code validation. C6000 is Industry 4.0 enabled and integrates with customer’s ERP and MES systems decreasing the possibility of coding errors. These features help to reduce scrappage costs and ensure correct and readable codes are printed consistently.

Domino’s QuickDesign software makes it possible to design labels for multiple printers from a central location, reducing the possibility of operator errors. Simplified line-side printer operation is possible through the addition of the intuitive and user-friendly ControlPanel touchscreen.

Another step forward for the C6000 is the introduction of an eco-friendly, advanced 952BK mineral-oil-free black ink. 952BK produces high contrast alphanumeric text and graphics as well as, GS1 compliant readable barcodes. It is a non-hazardous, vegetable-oil based ink suitable for recyclability.

Senior Product Manager, Andy Barrett at Domino Printing Sciences, says: “The latest additions to the C6000 signify a significant step forward in Drop on Demand (DoD) printer capability.

“Thanks to the addition of the redesigned Piezoelectric printhead and the large capacity ink system, key customer requirements have been designed into the new C6000. Increased overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and reducing operating costs allow businesses to keep production flowing at the fastest rate possible.”
